Nate's First Haircut!

Yesterday we took Nate to Mellonheads for his first haircut! Although his hair is fine, it is straight which means that it was either feathered (see below) or hanging over his ears and in his eyes - so we thought it was time for a trim. We expected it to be a big ordeal, but he was fantastic! It really helped that the Thomas the Train he was sitting in had a steering wheel which ended up keeping Nate occupied.

Before....

During....

After...

When we got home, it was so hot that we filled up Nate's dino pool and let him splash around in the backyard.

ONE IS FUN!!

We made it through the big weekend! Our bug is one, and we had a blast celebrating. Following his family party on Saturday night, we had a bunch of his friends from mom and tots, as well as a few of our neighbours over yesterday afternoon. And I thought Saturday was busy - wow, 7 babies, oops, I mean toddlers sure know how to keep you on your feet!!

Today we recovered (read: cleaned and rested) and took Nate for his one year doctor's appointment. He is 33 inches long, and weighs 24 lbs 8 oz. That makes him in the 75th percetile for weight and off the chart for length. Our doc told us that at 31 inches long he would be 100 percentile for length. New nickname: stretchy. If you map weight vs length (regardless of age) Nate comes in at approximately 50th percentile. Nate also had his 12 month vaccinations today, which went surprisinly well. Thankfully, both Mario and I were off today, so Mario held him for the needles while I stood outside of the room and cried. Then I went in and hugged him when the nurse was finished, and after a short cry Nate was fine (although I'm still recovering).

So now the parties are over, we've seen the doctor and all is good. Back to normal for a while. Nate is cruising like crazy and on the verge of walking alone. He is getting very confident (read: cocky) and he will stand on his own and get our attention to make sure we notice that he is doing it. Lately he will stand on his own and drink from his sippy cup or wiggle his bum, or something just to let us know that he is comfortable. It is super cute!
